Before joining HJV Equipment, I built a varied foundation across video production, research, web development, and community operations.
Hive Media Group — Video Producer Assistant (Sept 2021 – June 2022) My introduction to professional content production. I worked across a range of projects in a team environment — editing videos, contributing to pitch meetings, scripting, and specializing in stop-motion animation and live streaming via OBS. I produced recuts and original content for Facebook pages with millions of followers, and developed a habit of analyzing production workflows to identify what could be tightened or improved. This role led directly into my promotion to full Video Producer, where I launched HerStory.
HerStory, What the Wealth, Science in a Snap & The Good News — Snapchat Shows (2022 – 2023) As Video Producer at Hive, I led the launch and ongoing production of HerStory — a Snapchat show spotlighting bold stories of women defying expectations — which regularly pulled between 100K and 1.3M views per week. I also contributed to What the Wealth, Science in a Snap, and The Good News, handling everything from research and scripting through to editing, thumbnail optimization, and publishing. I used data analytics throughout to identify viewer drop-off points and improve retention, and trained team members on Adobe Creative Suite — Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and InDesign. Across all shows, the channel grew to 120K+ subscribers and over one million monthly viewers.
CoupleThing — Stop-Motion Animation Series A stop-motion animation project produced at Hive for an audience of hundreds of thousands of weekly viewers. My contributions spanned nearly every corner of production: I created the show’s intro, handled the laundry room and bathroom scenes, voiced the therapist character, worked on FaceTime and restaurant sequences, produced split scenes, voiced Karen, built the text message scene, and covered bar and night scenes. It was scrappy, collaborative, and a genuine crash course in end-to-end content production.
Western University — Freelance Video Editor (July – Sept 2021) Commissioned to produce a longform video for Western’s 2021 Homecoming event. I worked directly with the university’s administration team, recording voiceovers, creating photo separation animations, and designing video graphics that captured the history and culture of the school — all under a tight event-driven deadline.
Western University — Research Assistant (May – Sept 2020) Contributed to an academic research project focused on the right-to-repair movement. I conducted literature reviews, collected and analyzed qualitative and quantitative data, and recruited and interviewed subjects using semi-structured conversational interviews — both in person and by phone.
Tri-Star Metal Stampings — Freelance Web Developer (June – July 2019) Built and deployed a website for a manufacturing client using Bootstrap, AJAX, and Animate On Scroll. I handled videography and photography for the site, implemented image compression, applied SEO best practices, and prepared the final product for deployment in a low-cost data centre.
